Lova, the Netherlands Association for Feminist Anthropology and Gender Studies

Our Lova Network aims to foster a community of feminist anthropologists and gender studies scholars and practitioners both within and outside of academia.

It is our mission to promote feminist anthropology and ethnographic gender studies and to communicate new theoretical insights to a broad audience within universities and other relevant institutions and organisations.

We organize working groups and events, we publish a journal and blogs, and we share information about events and vacancies via our Lova Mail Service and on our social media. Search this website for finding out what we do.

The annual Lova Study Day 2023 was organized as a seminar to commemorate Karin Willemse, Lova chair 1999-2004 and was held at Leiden University on 20 September.

Lova blog Bijleveld

By Kiki Bijleveld. The intimate practices of ethnographic fieldwork are imbued with power relations, that sometimes lead to (sexual) harassment and other forms of unsafety.

LOVA Journal

Each year we publish a journal in hard copy which is sent to members. It consists of research articles, (photo)essays, fieldwork reflections, interviews and book reviews.
